Kara received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Ball State University in 2013 and her masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the end of 2015. Kara has had the privilege of working with elementary aged children and their families in a community mental health setting for the last several years.
Kara absolutely loves working with children and their families. She has experience working with children who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, ADHD, anger, irritability, behavioral issues at school/home, friendship difficulties, and oppositional behaviors. Kara enjoys working with children and their caregivers to explore solutions to challenges they are facing.
Kara tailors her treatment to each specific child and family. It is important to create a safe and approachable environment to help children feel comfortable in counseling. Kara uses a lot of creative techniques to engage children in the therapeutic process. Kara uses a trauma-informed, collaborative, strengths-based, and solution-focused approach. Kara uses techniques from cognitive-behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy to address treatment needs. Kara’s goal is to create an empathetic and supportive relationship with you and your child to help you reach your goals.
Outside of the therapy room, Kara enjoys reading, drinking coffee, and spending time outside with her sweet little dog Piper.
