Is anyone else slightly freaked out by the fact that the holidays are quickly approaching? I was scheduling clients last night and realized that Thanksgiving is 2 weeks away! Two weeks! We haven’t even made plans for Thanksgiving yet!
I normally love the holidays. There is so much joy and magic. The food, the family, the decorations, the traditions, the music, the giving, Christ’s birth. There are so many good things about the holidays and traditionally it has been one of my favorite times of year. However, I told my husband the other day that I am already feeling a sense of ennui regarding the upcoming holidays. It seems like in recent years the holidays have just been one big blur. Really from the start of September through Christmas is just non-stop busyness. The kids go back to school, our daughter has her birthday, multiple fall activities take place, Halloween, my son’s birthday, Thanksgiving, and finally Christmas. By the time it is all over I am exhausted!
However, as I have been thinking about it more I have decided that I want to recapture the joy of the holidays this year. No more ennui for this girl! My kids are at the perfect age to experience all of the joy, wonder, and magic that the holidays have to offer and I intend to do everything in my power to enjoy it right along with them!
Since I am guessing I am not the only one who experiences stress and frustration at the holidays I have decided to begin working on a series of posts over the next few weeks to focus how we can each make the most of the holiday season this year. Some topics I am planning to touch on include
-Taking back the holidays (ways to cut out stress)
-Traditions
-Dealing with family
-Creative gift giving ideas
What other topics would you like for me to touch on in the coming weeks? Let me know and I would be happy to add it to my list!
